On a trip to Dubai, you will find a large variety of Dubai food. Arabic food is the main type of food which is served and liked in Dubai. Although all kinds of Arabic food are loved in Dubai, there are some special dishes which are quite popular among tourists and locals as well. Shawarma is the most popular food in Dubai. It is made with lamb or chicken which is mixed and cooked with pickle, tomatoes and garlic sauce. These ingredients are then wrapped in Arabic bread called “Roti” and served. Taste of shawarma is somewhat like Kebabs but it can vary from one restaurant to another.
Falafel is actually Arabic French fry. This dish just looks like cutlets. To make Falafel, mashed chickpeas are mixed with different spices. It is then deep-fried and served in bread-pockets. This dish is normally served as a side dish.
This dish is also very popular and is served in many restaurants across Dubai. Whole lamb is roasted to make this dish. Roasted lamb is then served on top of rice. Rice is also especially made and contains vegetables and nuts. This is a delicious dish and your Dubai trip will be incomplete without having tasted Ghuzi.
To make this dish, chickpeas are cooked and mashed. After this, olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, garlic and salt are mixed in mashed chickpeas.
Arabic bread is popularly known as roti or naan. Plain flour is used to make roti which is then baked in traditional clay ovens called “tandoors”. This roti is very tasty and is often served with Indian curries.
Main ingredients of this tasty dish include chopped parsley, bulgur, tomato, scallion, mint and other herbs with lemon juice and olive oil. Other seasonings are also used to make this dish, which generally include black pepper, cinnamon and allspice. Tabouli is served with lettuce leaf.
This dish consists of rice, onions and meat which are seasoned with salt, spices and dried lemon. Meat, spices, dried lemon and seasonings are cooked in boiling water. Then meat is taken out and rice is added. All ingredients are now cooked with rice. After that, meat is returned again in the pot and is cooked for one to two hours.
This dish is ancient yet popular. Meat, water and wheat are used to make this dish. Meat is put in a pot and then wheat is added on top of it. Then it is cooked in boiling water until meat becomes soft. After being cooked, all ingredients are mixed and beaten thoroughly until they look like porridge. In the last step, pot is surrounded by a layer of charcoal and it is cooked overnight. This dish is especially eaten during Ramadan.
